How to connect the Zoom MCP server

Before you start

• A Zoom account with admin or developer authorizations, so you can create an app on the Zoom App Marketplace. developers.zoom.us/docsdevelopers.zoom.us/docs
• Licenses for the Zoom products the tools use. Zoom's published Claude connector needs a licensed user on a Zoom Workplace Pro, Pro Plus, Business, Business Plus, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus or Enterprise Bundle account, plus an account owner or admin with privileges. • Meeting assets and recordings are only available when AI Companion Smart Recording or Meeting Summary is enabled for them, and you hosted the meeting or the host granted you access. Video features need meetings recorded to the cloud with Smart Recording. developers.zoom.us/docs

Steps

1. Open Zoom's instructions for connecting to its MCP servers

2. Create a Zoom app to register your client

   Zoom's MCP servers only support manual client registration, not Dynamic Client Registration or Client ID Metadata Documents. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as a developer or admin, choose Develop, then Build app, and create a General app. Under Scopes, add the scopes listed for each tool on the Zoom server page. Add your client's OAuth callback URL as the OAuth redirect URL (for Claude, https://claude.ai/api/mcp/auth_callback; for ChatGPT, the callback value shown in the app's advanced OAuth settings). The app's Basic information page shows the client ID and client secret your client needs.

3. Add the Zoom MCP server to your client

   Add https://mcp.zoom.us/mcp/zoom/streamable as a remote MCP server that uses the Streamable HTTP transport, and enter your Zoom app's OAuth client ID and client secret. In Claude, add it as a custom connector. In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode, create an app with OAuth authentication, choose a user-defined OAuth client, and set the token endpoint auth method to client_secret_basic.

4. Sign in to Zoom and approve the requested scopes

5. Claude users: you can use Zoom's published connector instead

   Zoom lists a Zoom for Claude connector in the Claude Connectors Directory. Add it from the directory and complete Zoom OAuth; you don't create your own Zoom app for this path.

6. List the server's tools

   Your client should list the server's tools. That confirms the connection, not every API permission.

What we observed

• 5 Nov 2026: HTTP 401 with WWW-Authenticate resource_metadata https://zoom.us/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp/zoom/streamable. Error body: "Access token is required".
