Connect MotherDuck
Query DuckDB and MotherDuck from an MCP client.
Setup evidence reviewed 2026-10-23. Documentation review does not establish a successful connection.
Credentials and permissions
Hosted server: OAuth for supported clients, or a MotherDuck token in the Authorization: Bearer header for backend clients. Local MotherDuck access uses a token; local DuckDB access depends on the file.
Set up your connection
Connect to the hosted endpoint using the publisher setup guide. The hosted server exposes read-only and read-write tools; configure read-only access when required. For local DuckDB files or self-hosting, use mcp-server-motherduck; its read-only default is separate from hosted permissions.
Server endpoint
https://api.motherduck.com/mcpTransport: Hosted HTTP MCP; local stdio and self-hosted HTTP alternatives
