# How to connect the Apify MCP server

To connect the official Apify MCP server, add https://mcp.apify.com/ to your MCP client as a Streamable HTTP server, then sign in with OAuth when your client prompts you. If your client can't use OAuth, send your Apify API token in the Authorization header as a bearer token. Apify documents setup for Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, ChatGPT, Claude and Codex.

## Before you start

- An Apify account to run Actors and access storage. Some discovery tools, such as searching Actors and Apify docs, work without one.

## Steps

1. **Open Apify's MCP server setup instructions** <https://docs.apify.com/platform/integrations/mcp>
2. **Add the Apify MCP server to your client** Add https://mcp.apify.com as a remote MCP server that uses the Streamable HTTP transport (often labelled "http"). Apify also offers a configurator at the same address, a Claude connector, a ChatGPT plugin, and a CLI that installs the server in Cursor and other clients.
3. **Sign in to Apify and approve access in the browser window**
4. **If your client can't use OAuth, send your Apify API token in the Authorization header as a bearer token**
5. **Where to find your Apify API token** Create or copy an API token in the API & Integrations section of Apify Console, and send it as "Bearer" followed by your API token. Keep the token in an environment variable or secret store, not in shared configuration.
6. **List the server's tools**
